About the Game Resource Hub
Making your first game is hard enough without spending hours working out which tools to use. This site collects the engines, tools, assets and tutorials that game developers actually rely on, and explains each one in plain language.
Who it is for
Students, people joining their first game jam, hobbyists and small indie teams. If you already know exactly what you need, the search and filters get you there quickly. If you do not, start with the three steps on the home page or a starter pack.
How resources are chosen
Every listing is reviewed by a maintainer before it goes live. We check that:
- the website works and the resource does what it says;
- the price is labelled correctly — free, free with paid plans, or paid;
- the licence is described accurately, and where it is unclear we say “Check provider” rather than guess;
- asset sites make clear the difference between free to download and free for commercial use;
- nothing misleading, unsafe or pirated is listed.
Listings are re-checked regularly, and broken links are flagged automatically every week.
Featured and sponsored listings
“Popular free picks” are chosen by the maintainers because they are good places for beginners to start. They are never paid for. If a listing is ever sponsored, it will be clearly labelled, and payment will never change how a resource is described or ranked.
Who runs it
The Game Resource Hub is an open-source project started by Gamedoora, a free platform for planning and building games as a team. Gamedoora appears in the directory like every other tool, with the same kind of listing.
The code is released under the MIT licence and the resource descriptions under CC BY 4.0, so you are welcome to reuse them. Product names and logos belong to their owners.
Currently listing 102 resources in 17 categories.
